:on winter:

the crunch of snow packing underfoot...
the sparkle of the sun reflecting off the snow...
the gasp of cold air refreshing warm lungs...
the sway of pine boughs holding the weight of snow...
the path of wandering footprints...

...is a reminder that winter has arrived.

also, a freshly broken windshield wiper blade going, "AKKKKKEKAKRKKDKDKJFJA;KAKJSDFJFJFJKA;WENZCV;" across a sheet of ice is a nice little reminder that you should go out and start your car a little earlier to let it warm up because...

...winter has arrived.

Don't forget about the sound of Todd complaining because it's cold. That's when you know winter is here. Damn this Californian blood in me.

i agree with cuyler and todd. i have an alarmingly large crack in my windshield that recently spawned a second crack. stupid winter. also, the HIGH TEMP is below freezing. that ain't right. damn this "just want to be warm all the friggin' time" blood in me.

i wish i could say that frozen toes would be a sign for me that winter has arrived, but...

that's pretty much true year round.
